Dakota---she knew something was up....

 

 

On the news this week there have been several news agencies that have covered the story about dogs knowing what humans are saying.  I don't know if that is exactly true, yet I do think they understand and intuit a lot.  

Take for example, Dakota.  This is  her the other night when Kait was working.  She rarely does this.  For the days leading up to this moment, we kept saying that we suspected Dakota knew something was up with all the stuff Kait was moving down from her room here to take to school. 

She obviously didn't want Allen to move without her knowing. And/or she was showing Allen she missed him and wanted to be near him.  Too cute. 

Although to come downstairs and see her like this on the couch kinda makes me think she's doing ok and is able to sleep even though she misses Kait!!!  

Looking forward to the weekend!  Sounds like my CCS is going to be able to come up to DCL with me for not just one night, BUT TWO!!  It's been a long time and I'm so excited!!  

The humidity should be lower which means nice hot coffee on the porch and lots of reading and chilling!

First Day of School!

 Well this beautiful bird started her sophomore year yesterday! 

After a crazy start to August, we're happy to have had an uneventful start to her sophomore year.  Although yesterday I got absolutely crazily confused and thought both girls were still Freshmen!!  My mistake!

Bird has a pretty good schedule...most of the hard classes done in the morning.  As Kait told her, she can get her homework done in her afternoon classes, then!

Sounds like Kait had a good first day too...and is actually going to try and change one of her classes today...because apparently the professor has the worst rating on Rate My Professor she's ever seen.  

Weather is hot again today... Sounds like one more day and then we'll see a reprieve.  I can only hope the reprieve lasts thru the Pig Roast.  There's a hurricane they are watching...of course...for next week.  

 

Snow 2! So appropriate for BACK TO SCHOOL 2016-2017!

 

 

It's back to school time!  And as the Staples commercial says, "It's the most wonderful time of the year!" Not really---Christmas really is the most wonderful time of the year!  I do like the start of school because it brings the routine and structure back.  I know the girls enjoy sleeping in and just going with the flow.  I do too, sometimes, yet I still have to work during the summer and it gets a bit challenging with a house full of people and never knowing when the questions come.

I try not to be annoyed, however, because these questions/interruptions are temporary and I'm sure in a few weeks I'll be saying the house is too quiet and that I miss all the activity!

Someone on twitter last night said, "Are they calling for snow tomorrow?  I could really use a delay."  Thought it was so funny!  

Speaking of delays due to snow....following up Friday's post with some more "after effects" of the snow.

When I look at this picture and I see D's ears flapping as she is running, I know she is happy!  She loves the cold! 

 And early morning shot of the street before the plows (a day or two, actually). So pretty and pristine. 

 

 

Our attempt at measuring since we didn't have a yard stick and we couldn't get the metal measuring tape to go thru the snow. We measured 26".

 On my walk---so pretty, but it sure was cold!

As we are about to have another few days of really hot weather, I thought how appropriate to get back into the blogging world by posting about one of my favorites....SNOW!!

It's been a crazy summer to say the least.  Medical issues were dealt out to those who are close and thankfully most are stable and not undergoing any serious treatment as we speak.

So I'm taking a break and looking at these pictures, as right now, my windows are all full of condensation with the humid, humid weather already even at 5:50 this morning. 

Here is when the big snow storm of 2016 started: 

 

 I wish I had written down the times of these pictures to give an accurate account of how quickly the snow was falling. 

We decided to go out and check out the neighborhood before heading to bed...

 

 

 The wind was picking up and the dogs were excited! 

 Later on that evening....looking out back toward the pool. 

 And this is what we woke up to!  I welcome it back!!  

Farmer's Almanac says my region could expect a blizzard in February this year.  OK!!!

BRING IT ON!! 

 It was coming down so hard that you can barely tell where Allen had plowed.
